Court R. Jones is a portrait painter and fine artist who was trained along a lineage of art instruction which can be traced back directly to the ateliers and academies of 19th century France and Italy.
After working for many years as an award-winning commercial illustrator, Court now accepts commissions for oil portraits. His goal is to apply his classical realist training to a modern aesthetic and create portraits with a timeless feeling.
Court received his Bachelors Degree in Studio Art from the University of California, San Diego in 1996. In 2001 he began his education anew at the Watts Atelier studying with artists such as Ron Lemen, Erik Gist and Jeffrey Watts. Shortly after starting as a student at the Watts Atelier, he was tapped to be an instructor there. Beginning in 2003 he taught courses in illustration, anatomy and portrait painting. He has also traveled to teach workshops around the U.S. and internationally in Japan, Korea, Austria and India.
He has exhibited with the La Jolla Art Association, Allied Artists Association of San Diego as well as other group shows around Southern California and the world.
